My Therapeutic Approach

 

As a Health Behavioural Scientist I offer a unique approach to improving both physical and psychological health. Practicing as an Exercise Physiologist and Health Psychologist I combine the two elements to bring about lasting change through short-term, goal orientated, brief behaviour change therapy. This means that my work with clients is extremely focused, and is therefore both time and cost effective. 

 

All my work is grounded in scientific research evidence and I use a combination of Person Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as tools from other third wave therapies and Health Psychology models to meet each clients specific needs. My overriding ethos is to develop ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’ and to tailor each clients’ therapeutic intervention to their own individual requirements.

Who do I work with?

​

I have extensive experience of building relationships with children and adolescents, as well as their families, to help them navigate difficulties. I also have considerable experience of working with adult health related conditions to improve quality of life, including female specific issues. I also work with groups and organisations such as Schools and Academies, Sports Clubs and Fitness Professionals, and other Healthcare Professionals to provide consultancy, supervision and professional development. ​

The Heart and Head Core Elements Model forms the basis of all my therapeutic work. It provides the foundations from which we can work together to understand any issues you are experiencing with your physical and psychological health, and using evidence-based theories and models helps me to build an appropriate intervention.
